Test scores aren’t the only way to determine which primary schools are the right place for your child, but they can be a helpful tool in helping you decide which schools to apply for.
With this in mind, we have created a league table ranking state primary schools across Liverpool. They are ranked by the percentage of their pupils who completed the national curriculum’s Key Stage 2 in the last school year (2023), and met the government’s expected standards.
Pupils are meeting the ‘expected standard’ if they achieve a scaled score of 100 or more in their reading and maths tests, and their teacher assesses them as 'working at the expected standard' or better in writing. We’ve selected only schools which surpassed the national average of 60% and the local authority average of 55% - those with the very highest combined scores.
All schools on the list also had an overall Ofsted rating of ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ before this measure was dropped this month*, meaning the quality of education provided, student behaviour and attitudes, school leadership and management, and student safeguarding have all been found to either meet or exceed government standards.
Featuring schools from all over the city, take a look at Liverpool’s top primary schools which have both brilliant educational attainment in core subjects and impressed Ofsted inspectors. *Please note, schools without an overall judgement have not been included.
