The revised results for the latest cohort of GCSE students - for the 2024/25 academic year - follows the provisional results published in October. The data now includes adjusted scores following re-marks and appeals.
The official DfE figures allow schools to be sorted by a variety of metrics. The most common way to rank schools is through Progress 8 scores, but the baseline for this metric could not be calculated for 2025, due to the cohort not sitting Year 6 tests as a result of Covid.

Instead, school performance is being measured by Attainment 8 scores, which are calculated using pupils’ grades in the compulsory English and maths GCSEs – each usually double-weighted – as well as their best grades in three other English Baccalaureate subjects (which include sciences, languages, history and geography), and then their highest marks in three additional GCSE subjects or other approved qualifications.
A school’s Attainment 8 score is the average total achieved by pupils in that year’s GCSE cohort of students.
With the final results now available, we have ranked Liverpool’s secondary schools using Attainment 8 data.
