Liverpool care homes: The 23 worst-rated nursing homes in the city, according to CQC inspectors

These nursing homes in Liverpool have been given an overall rating of 'requires improvement' or the lowest rating of ‘inadequate’ by the Care Quality Commission.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the public body responsible for regulating and inspecting health and social care providers. It provides care homes across the country with an overall judgement after an inspection, with possible ratings including outstanding, good, requires improvement or inadequate.

In Liverpool, 21 care homes and residential homes are rated as ‘requires improvement’, and two have been given the lowest rating of ‘inadequate’.

To reach an overall rating, CQC inspectors consider the key questions of whether the service is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led - with each of these categories also receiving an individual verdict.
