Pet ownership has sky-rocketed over lockdown with more than half of UK households now owning at least one pet.

Dogs (and cats) are top of the list with an estimated 12 million pet pooches now living in our homes, according to data from statista.

With lockdown restrictions easing we are now taking our dogs further afield than just the park or beach as we begin to return to normal life.

So, with that in mind, we have put together a list of eight restaurants in Liverpool One where your canine companions will be welcome.

Bill’s Restaurant Liverpool

What is it? Restaurant, serving up favourites such as a traditional breakfast, steak and eggs, haloumi and avocado burger and eggs benedict and fries. Bill’s offers a variety of British and contemporary European food.

“Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between, you can sit quietly with a coffee, meet up with friends for lunch or visit in the evening when the candles are twinkling,” says the website.

When is it open? Monday - Tuesday - 8am-9:30pm, Wednesday 8am-10pm, Thursday - Friday 8am-11pm, Saturday 8:30am-11pm Sunday (& Bank Holidays) 9am-10pm

Dog policy - Accepts dogs inside and out.

Lunya

What is it?  Independently run deli, restaurant and bar serving up Catalan and Spanish food such as tapas, cured meats and cheeses.

“We want Lunya to be a place where anyone who loves good food and drink feels as though they belong. Like all great restaurants in Spain, we want to be a place where you can come dressed up or casual, however you want,” says the website.

When is it open? Monday - Tuesday & Saturday - 10am-9pm, Wednesday - Friday - 10am-9.30pm, Sunday 10am-8.30pm.

Cosy Club

What is it? This modern British restaurant claims it offers a real sense of theatre with a heavy dash of nostalgia. “It’s like being at a terribly good house party, in a mansion, owned by a somewhat eccentric relative,” says the website.

Dining options range for Shakshuka - a classic North African and Middle Eastern dish - to house burgers with fries and slaw.

When is it open? Sunday - Wednesday - 9am-11pm, Thursday - Saturday 9am-11.10pm.

Dog policy -  Allow dogs in the lounge area inside.

The Clubhouse

What is it?  Comfort food and cocktails served in a venue that has nautical decor and a beer garden. The menu includes their famous Hanging Kebabs, mushroom and squash pie and salt n pepper chicken wings.

“That feeling when you first arrive on holiday, where you leave the run-of-the-mill, real-world behind and your cares just slip away... You can’t beat it. So, we’ve captured it, with The Club House,” claims the website.

Las Iguanas

What is it? Latin American restaurant serving up flame-grilled dishes and shared plates. From quesadillas, enchiladas and burritos to Gaucho steaks and Bahian jackfruit curry.

“Shimmering with colour on Paradise Street there is a taste of the tropics at Las Iguanas. All the delicious Latin American classics and more alongside a legendary cocktail menu,” says the website.

Dog policy - Well behaved dogs are allowed on the outside piazza (terrace seating). Dogs must be on a lead and not interfere with other guests’ enjoyment.

Yard & Coop

What is it? Fried chicken restaurant where you get to customise your meal. You pick the cut and the sauce and they serve it up.

A bottomless brunch is also on offer every Saturday and Sunday.

“Home of buttermilk fried chicken, a wide range of cocktails and craft beers. This is proper good time food. Birds, booze and beats,” says the website.

Cote Bistro

What is it? French brasserie, serving regional specialities and traditional classics that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu includes charcuterie, tuna nicoise and tarte au pommes.

They now also do a Champagne brunch at the weekend.

“Inspired by Parisian bistros, Côte brings a flavour of France to Merseyside,” says the website.

Barburrito

What is it? Mexican burrito bar, serving bespoke wraps, tacos and salads at a counter service. The menu includes all the favourites plus a jerk chicken offering too.

“We spent too much time in Mexico… we were foodie fanatics who’d found our calling in the iconic burrito. So, we stole the greatest recipe and set about crafting and perfecting the art of sensational Mexican food” says the website.

Dog policy - Dog friendly outside. Dogs are allowed inside while customers are ordering but not while they are sitting at a table.
