The new Michelin star winners have been announced for Great Britain and Ireland - are there any in Merseyside?

Michelin have published their official selection of restaurants as part of their guide for 2022 - awarding their prestigious stars to food hubs that produce high quality dining experiences.

The Guide can award up to three Michelin stars, which are given to a select few across Great Britain and Ireland - of which there are now eight thanks to Cumbria’s L’Enclume joining the exclusive club this year.

To gain a Michelin star, a restaurant must fit certain criteria such as using quality products, mastery of flavour and cooking techniques, personality of the chef in the cuisine, whether it is value for money and consistency.

This year’s guide includes one new Three Star, five new Two Stars and 19 new One Stars.

Nine restaurants have also been awarded a Michelin Green Star.

The award was introduced in 2021 and highlights eateries that combine culinary excellence with eco-friendly and sustainable practises.
