I was just 16 when I decided to make the switch to a vegan lifestyle almost 11 years ago and back then it was pretty hard to find decent meal options at the supermarket let alone a good restaurant that catered for vegans.
Of course, there were some old school veggie joints - like The Egg - but, it was difficult to find somewhere that my meat-eating friends and I could enjoy together. Now, pretty much every restaurant has at least one vegan option on the menu and it is easier than ever to have a meal out without missing out.
-I went to Liverpool's treasured Italian restaurant people queue down street for and now I understand why
Over the last decade, I have powered through many subpar plant-based dishes but Liverpool is now filled with so many amazing vegan-friendly restaurants that it can be overwhelming to decide where to go. So, I have created this guide to my top ten favourite restaurants in the city to help you choose, just in time for Veganuary.
Take a look at the gallery below to see my recommendations, which include fully vegan restaurants and eateries for everyone.

5. The Bagelry, Nelson Street, Liverpool
The Bagelry is about a minute's walk away from the Baltic Green and serves the BEST doughnuts and bagels in town. They have a huge variety of homemade bagels, which you can buy plain or as filled sandwiches, as well as tons of doughnuts which are all vegan. I'd recommend the vegan chicken bagel and the Biscoff doughnut. | Emma Dukes

6. Chamber 36, Berry Street, Liverpool
Chamber 36 is an award-winning Asian restaurant in Liverpool city centre (and Smithdown Road) which offers a whole host of amazing vegan options. The cocktails are amazing too and I cannot recommend it enough. | Chamber 36

7. Tiger Rock, North John Street, Liverpool
Another amazing Asian restaurant is Tiger Rock, which has three sites in Liverpool. I personally love the one on North John Street and often visit for Pad Thai, small plates and amazing cocktails. | Emma Dukes

8. Casa Italia, Stanley Street, Liverpool
One of Liverpool's oldest restaurants, Casa Italia is a must-visit. It genuinely serves the best pasta I have ever had and there are loads of great vegan and gluten free options. | Emma Dukes
