The best 50 cities in the world have been revealed and Liverpool has made it into the top ten, alongside the likes of New York and Tokyo.
Working with research company Potentia Insights, Time Out surveyed thousands of city-dwellers about the quality and affordability of food, culture and nightlife in their city.
Each survey respondent was also asked which other city they would most like to live in, as well as how their own city makes them feel.
Using the responses, Time Out has created a global ranking of the world’s 50 best cities for 2024, featuring a number of UK destinations, with Liverpool featured in the top ten.
From New York's buzzing atmosphere and iconic Broadway theatre, to Liverpool's music scene and delicious foodie spots, here are the top ten best cities in the world, and what makes them perfect for visiting in 2024.
1. New York, USA
Taking the top spot is New York, known for its iconic monuments and buzzing atmosphere. The description by Time Out reads: "This vibrant metropolis is always adapting, always innovating and always pushing the boundaries. It's never asleep. It's fully awake. 4. London, UK
London takes fourth place and the top spot for the UK, with 94 percent of Londoners saying they are happy and 95 percent saying they find the city beautiful. The Time Out description reads: " Londoners make London great. Nowhere else in the world can you rub shoulders with such a diverse yet weirdly homogeneous group of people. Is our home as friendly as Dublin, as beautiful as Paris or as gastronomically hyped as Tokyo? No. But judging by the fact London is consistently named the best city in the world, Europe, and so on, it obviously doesn’t matter. Our galleries are free. Our parks are massive. Our pubs are legendary. Our kebab meat is plentiful. There’s no city like it, and if you don’t agree, we genuinely don’t care. But please visit!" | Horváth Botond - stock.adobe.co Photo: Horváth Botond - stock.adobe.co
