COVID-19: Four areas of Liverpool record rise in infections - eight more deaths over the weekend
Four areas of the Liverpool City Region have seen a rise in COVID-19 cases with two recording notable surges, the latest data from the Government shows.
Knowsley and St Helen’s have both seen a week on week percentage increase in coronavirus infections above 20%.

Hide AdAccording to the figures from Public Health England, Knowsley was the worst hit constituency as COVID-19 cases rose by 22.3% in the seven days leading up to 20 October.
The region had 692 cases in total, 126 more than the previous week.
The percentage change week on week in St Helens rose by 21.7%, with 189 more cases than the previous seven days - 1,058 in total.
Halton recorded an increase of 8.7%, with 855 cases in total, 71 more than the previous week.

Hide AdSefton had an infection rate of 8.6%, with 1,146 cases, 91 more than the previous seven days.
Infection rates in Wirral (-7.7%) and Liverpool (-6.1%) dropped during the same period.

According to the latest figures released on Monday, 25 October, the number of coronavirus cases in Halton increased by 315 over the weekend, with one more death was recorded.
A total of 21,571 people had been confirmed as testing positive for COVID-19.
The rate of infection in Halton now stands at 16,624 cases per 100,000 people, far higher than the England average of 13,254.
The further death recorded over the weekend takes the area’s overall tally of deaths to 289 people.

Coronavirus cases in Knowsley increased by 257 over the weekend with two more deaths recorded.
A total of 29,008 people had been confirmed as testing positive for COVID-19.
The rate of infection in Knowsley now stands at 19,028 cases per 100,000 people, which is also higher than the England average.
The two further deaths recorded over the weekend takes the region’s overall death tally to 461 people.

The number of cases in Liverpool increased by 567 over the weekend with two more deaths recorded.
A total of 83,486 people had been confirmed as testing positive for COVID-19 in the area.
The rate of infection in Liverpool now stands at 16,681 cases per 100,000 people, far higher than the national average.
The two further deaths recorded over the weekend takes the region’s overall death tally to 1,319 people.

The number of cases in Sefton increased by 431 over the weekend with two more deaths recorded.
A total of 43,856 people had been confirmed as testing positive.
The rate of infection in Liverpool now stands at 15,896 cases per 100,000 people, far higher than the England average.

The number of coronavirus cases in St Helens increased by 365 over the weekend, with one more death recorded.
A total of 30,743 people had been confirmed as testing positive for COVID-19 in the area.
The rate of infection in St Helens now stands at 16,976 cases per 100,000 people, far higher than the national average.
The further death recorded over the weekend takes the area’s overall death tally to 512 people.

The number of coronavirus cases in Wirral increased by 504 over the weekend.
A total of 45,611 people had been confirmed as testing positive for COVID-19.
The rate of infection in Wirral now stands at 14,063 cases per 100,000 people, higher than the England average of 13,254.
There were no further deaths in Wirral over the weekend. The number of deaths in the borough remains at 882.
