COVID-19: the areas in Liverpool City Region with highest and lowest infection rates

As cases continue to rise across the country, we reveal which neighbourhoods in our region saw the biggest rise in case rates per 100,000 people.

Nearly 80% of England’s adult population are now fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and more than 11% have had their booster dose in time for winter.

However, tens of thousands of people are still testing positive every day.

Hospitalisations and deaths continue to rise too. Latest Government figures show almost 7,000 people are in hospital with the disease, of which 799 are in medical ventilation beds. There have now also been 122,145 deaths reported within 28 days of a positive test.

Neighbourhoods across England are also reporting high infection rates. There are now 250 neighbourhoods that have an infection rate above 1,000 per 100,000 people.

In the Liverpool City Region there have been 6,352 positive cases in the seven days to 22 October. The latest weekly rate is 264.0 per 100,000.

As cases continue to rise across the country, we reveal which neighbourhoods in the Liverpool City Region saw the biggest rise in case rates per 100,000 people.

Halewood Central, in Wirral, has been the hardest hit and has seen rates of positive COVID-19 cases rise by 174.9%, from 146.3 to 402.2.

Bebington New Ferry, also in Wirral, has seen the biggest drop. Rates of positive COVID-19 cases have decreased by -56.9%, from 620.3 to 267.6.
