His name will join the other 96 victims, posthumously awarded the city’s Freedom in September 2016.

Screenwriting legend Jimmy McGovern also receives the same honour.

Jimmy’s nomination cites his unrivalled contribution to British TV, Film and Theatre over the past 40 years in a wide-ranging career as a writer, co-writer and producer.

The 72-year-old grandfather-of-four, and lifelong Liverpool FC fan, is also cited for placing the pursuit of truth and justice at the heart of his writing, most famously 25 years ago in the 1996 docu-drama Hillsborough.

👔 The Good Business Festival is returning to Liverpool in March 2022.

Major brands and leaders from business, media, music and academia will be part of the world’s largest responsible business festival, formed around six showcase events across the Liverpool City Region.

🚮 Eligible residents in Wirral will get an extra garden waste collection over the festive period.

Usually, the garden waste (brown bin) collection service, to which residents must subscribe, would take a break of four weeks over Christmas and New Year. But this year, the break will be much shorter.

Brown bin collections will run until 20 December and start on 4 January, the first normal working day after Christmas and New Year.
