Sir Keir Starmer‘s keynote speech at the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool was disrupted by a protester who jumped onto stage shouting ’true democracy is citizen led’ and sprinkled him with glitter.
The heckler also demand the introduction of a ‘people’s house’ before being led away by security. “We are in crisis, we are in crisis, our whole future,” he shouted as he exited the stage.

Starmer went on to use his keynote speech lambast the ‘Tory project to kick the hope out of this country’ and then set his sights on a ‘decade of national renewal’ during two terms of Labour in power.

“I have to warn you: our way back from this will be hard, but know this: what is broken can be repaired,” he told the conference. “What is ruined can be rebuilt. Wounds do heal. And ultimately that project - their project - will crash against the spirit of working people in this country. They are the source of my hope.”
Starmer added that ‘the fire of change still burns in Britain’ and it ‘lives on inside Labour’.
