While Southampton took the bottom spot with a score of one, Liverpool topped the charts with an impressive score of nine out of ten thanks to its top shopping choices, culture, architecture and more.
As someone who hails from Merseyside and lives in the heart of Liverpool city centre, here are 11 reasons why I agree that Liverpool is truly the best big city in Britain.

9. The beautiful beaches
If you want a break from the hustle and bustle, the outskirts of Liverpool are home to beautiful, sandy beaches. You can even spot some brilliant 'Iron Men' statues on Crosby. | PA

10. Incredible food markets
From laid back vibes at Liverpool’s first street food market in the Baltic Triangle to Duke Street Market’s unique vendors or Renshaw Street Market’s amazing Asian offerings, it is so easy to eat out and try multiple dishes. You can order from multiple vendors, meaning if you want a chocolate covered waffle followed by a bowl of ramen, that is totally fine. | Emma Dukes

11. Our beautiful free venues
One of my favourite places in the city is the stunning library on William Brown Street, with stunning architecture, a mesmerising reading room and beautiful spiral staircases - and it's free to explore. | Olivia Shaw
