We ask Liverpool about Ukraine: ‘I’m worried ... Putin is lunatic ... he has lost his mind ... hope we are safe’

Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned he has put Russia's nuclear forces on what he calls high alert.

He is said to be angry at the west's response to his war in Ukraine.

We're on the streets of Liverpool to ask you how you're feeling in light of the heightened situation in Ukraine?

‘I’m really afraid for them, I really am’

Carol says: "I'm really afraid for them, I really am. It's like this man has lost his mind. I mean, come on, is he really after the land because of the minerals and resources they've got. It's unbelievable. Why is he wanting to get his hands on that all of a sudden?"

John says: "I am worried, yes because you've got a lunatic who just has to say go ahead and everyone is involved then it could be a nuclear war I've got children."

Kay says: "I was alright until he mentioned nuclear weapons. It's a bit worrying now because if we go in to help, which I wish we would, because that's what he's going to do, isn't he?"
