Great British Bake Off returns with an eagerly awaited new series this month and Merseyside will have contestant to cheer on.

Lizzie, 28, a car production operative from Liverpool, will be vying to win the much-loved baking show as one of 12 new contenders for the GBBO 2021 title .

The baker, who can be found on the dance floor doing the samba in ‘jazzy’ attire when she’s not cooking, prefers ‘simple presentation and believes in flavour and quantity over precision’.

She lives with her partner and their dog, Prudence, in an annex in her parents garden.

Lizzie may look like she’s ‘frantic and messy on the outside, but she is usually calm and collected within’, according to background about this year’s show.

Her baking comfort zone is cake, but she loves experimenting with flavour and is generally prepared to give anything a go – as long as it doesn’t involve putting cheese in bread, which she thinks can only spell disaster.

When she’s not baking or dancing, Lizzie can be found investigating the lives of serial killers – a fascination she developed while studying for her criminology degree.
