Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez will miss the opening month of the Premier League season.

10 free agent strikers who Everton could sign after Dominic Calvert-Lewin injury blow

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is set for six weeks on the sidelines and will miss Everton’s start to the season.

Everton have suffered an injury blow ahead of the start of the 2022-23 Premier League campaign.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin will miss the Toffees’ curtain-raiser against Chelsea at Goodison Park on Saturday and will be sidelined for ‘around six weeks’.

The striker was plagued by issues last term and made just 18 appearances.

Toffees boss Frank Lampard said: “Losing a player like Dominic, with his quality, in the week going into the game is obviously going to affect you.

“I think we’re probably looking at around six weeks. I saw some crazy rumours yesterday but that’s the territory we’re looking at.

“It’s a blow for us and for him because he was looking really fit, really strong. I took him out of one pre-season game as a precaution but we were all saying how good he looked.”

The injury blow leaves Everton short of firepower against Chelsea and beyond - with no natural centre-forward available.

Richarlison was sold to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer, while Salomon Rondon has to serve the final game of a three-match suspension.

In addition, Ellis Simms has been loaned to Championship side Sunderland for the season.

While the likes of Armando Broja and Emmanuel Dennis have been linked this summer, a new striker has yet to arrive.

The free agent market could be an option for Everton to turn their attention in the short term.

If that was to be the case, here’s some of the players who could fit the bill.
