Everton's financial issues meant that the January window was always destined to be a quiet one.
The Toffees have been charged with breaching financial fair play and sustainability rules twice this season, which resulted in a points deduction. An appeal is underway but it has been a big blow for the club as spending has been restricted for the time-being.
Despite not bringing any players in, they managed to keep hold of key names which will give them a great chance of staying up but the only market in which they could possibly operate in is the free agent market, but even that seems unlikely.
Therefore, following the end of the January window, we've decided to pick eight problems that were or were not dealt with during the latest transfer period.

5. Andre Gomes
With his current deal set to expire in the summer, it's unclear what his future holds. Having been injured for the majority of the season, he's proven in his few appearances that he is still an effective midfielder. Likely to be on big wages, perhaps the club want to move him on after all this time and find someone fresh to add to it's midfield. | Getty Images

6. Idrissa Gueye's contract
Gueye was incredible against Tottenham at the weekend, even at 34 years of age. However, his deal expires in the summer but there's an option for an extra year if needed. It looks like the club will wait until then to conduct a deal as the future of their finances is considered. Photo: Michael Regan

7. Will Dele Alli return?
It looks increasingly unlikely we will see Alli in a Blue shirt once again. He has just seven more appearances to make before Everton have to pay Spurs £8m but it looks like that will never happen. 8. More minutes for Chermiti?
The £15m summer signing has barely featured for the senior side but given their lack of goals from Beto and Calvert-Lewin, he is needed in reserve. He may even earn more minutes as a result of the duo's poor finishing. | Getty Images
