Everton are due to be back in action on Boxing Day when they make the trip to Burnley in the Premier League (15.00).

Burnley were also not in action at the weekend after their trip to Aston Villa was scrapped only hours before kick-off because of coronavirus cases in the home camp.

The Clarets held Champions League-chasing West Ham to a goalless draw beforehand.

What's the Burnley team news

Maxwell Cornet was sidelined against West Ham because of a thigh injury.

Meanwhile, Ashley Barnes is also a doubt with a similar problem.

Connor Roberts had been recovering from illness at the weekend and Dale Stephens had returned to training after spending a period in self-isolation having contracted Covid.

What's the Everton team news

The Toffees were missing a raft of players as they earned a heroic point at Champions League holders Chelsea.

Those absent included key men such as Richarlison, Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend while Allan and Seamus Coleman were only fit enough to make the bench.

Benitez has admitted he will only have nine senior outfield players available against Burnley because of Covid and illness reasons. Five players under the age of 21 will be called up from the under-23s as a result.

However, the Toffees could be given a massive boost if Dominic Calvert-Lewin makes his return to action. He's been sidelined since August with a quad problem.

Calvert-Lewin might not be fit enough to start, although with Richarlison (calf) again a doubt and Salomon Rondon missing against Chelsea, youngster Ellis Simms may keep his spot up front.
