Everton aim to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals when they welcome Boreham Wood to Goodison Park tonight (20.15).
Premier League survival is the chief aim for the Toffees this season, with Frank Lampard’s men sitting just one place and one point above the drop zone.
But a potential trip to Wembley will not be dismissed by Everton if they can also stay afloat in the top flight.
The Blues are certainly heavy favourites heading into the fifth-round tie.
They sit 78 places above non-league Boreham Wood in the football pyramid.
But Lampard has insisted he won’t be underestimating the Wood, who knocked out Championship high-fliers Bournemouth in the previous stage.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the Everton boss said: “We saw what they did at Bournemouth.
“If we don‘t get the details right or prepare correctly or have the right attitude, it is possible [Boreham Wood will repeat their Bournemouth triumph].
“We will treat them with the utmost respect and prepare as we would for any game.
“They are riding high in their league and have a certain style that shows they are well coached and managed.
“For any club in their league to reach this far in the Cup is a massive achievement.
“We will be as prepared as possible and try to win the game by being at our best.”
Everton suffered a harsh 1-0 loss to Manchester City last weekend and Lampard could rest some of his key players from that game.
He’ll already be without the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ben Godfrey and Yerry Mina, while Donny van de Beek, Dele Alli and Anwar El Ghazi are cup-tied.
But a potential trip to Wembley will not be dismissed by Everton if they can also stay afloat in the top flight.
