Then Mina was withdrawn 10 minutes later after breaking down. Jarrad Branthwaite came on in his place.

The pair are now doubts for Everton’s game with Leeds United at Goodison Park on Saturday.

Frank Lampard has already got Abdoulaye Doucoure (groin), Fabian Delph (thigh) and Tom Davies (hamstring) on the treatment table.

Everton and Newcastle went into half-time level at 1-1 following two quickfire own goals.

The first came from Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles in the 36th minute yet Mason Holgate steered into his own net just a minute later.
