Former Everton and Millwall hero Tim Cahill’s son signs academy terms at Goodison Park

A former Everton hero's son has been unveiled in the latest intake of academy scholars.

Shea Cahill, whose dad is former Toffees attacking midfielder, Tim, is part of a 13-strong crop to link up with the under-18s at Goodison Park this season.

Like his father, Shea, 16, also plays in the engine room.

He's been training with Everton since he was 11 and first put pen to paper with the club in November 2019 as a 14-year-old.

Speaking to the Scottish Daily Mail last year, Cahill said about his son: "It’s just amazing he can learn in that environment, understand the club, the badge."

Following in father's footsteps

Cahill is arguably the greatest player to represent Everton since the turn of the century.

He was signed from Millwall in the summer of 2004 for just £1.5 million - which turned out to be a bargain.

The former Australian international would go on to make 278 appearances at Goodison Park, scoring 68 goals.

He helped David Moyes' side secure a fourth-place finish in the Premier League in his first season, as well as reach the FA Cup final in 2009 and qualify for Europe on four occasions.

In July 2012, Cahill left Everton for MLS outside New York Red Bulls.

After a stint in China playing for Shanghai Greenland Shenhua and Hangzhou Greentown, Cahill moved back to his homeland to join Melbourne City.

He then returned to England with Millwall in 2017 before bringing the curtain down on his playing career at Indian Super League outfit Jamshedpur.
