The midfielder has made 14 appearances for Saints this season, scoring one goal.

Tella was absent for Southampton's 1-1 draw at Manchester United last week and will again be unavailable to face Frank Lampard's side at St Mary's.

Hasenhuttl said: “So far we have nearly everybody in the sessions.

“We have Nathan Tella still out, he had a bit of a setback with his injury so it takes one more week to recover properly."

Tella will be one of three unavailable for in-form Southampton.

Goalkeeper Alex McCarthy has a long-term hamstring injury, having been absent since December.

Brazilian defender Lyanco has a similar issue and won't be returning to fitness any time soon.

Southampton do welcome back Nathan Redmond for the Everton game, though.

The 27-year-old, who’s recorded five Premier League assists this season, has missed the past two games with an ankle issue.

Hasenhuttl said: “Redders is back in training and that’s it.”

Jan Bednarek was withdrawn at half-time against Man Utd because of a quad problem. He should be OK to play, however.
