Tottenham 5-0 Everton: player ratings, heroes and villains as three get 2/10 in woeful display

Harry Kane bagged a double for Tottenham Hotspur as Frank Lampard’s Everton were well and truly put to the sword.

Woeful Everton suffered a chastening 5-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur as relegation fears grew markedly.

The Toffees were well and truly put to the sword in the capital as Frank Lampard’s side teeter over the Premier League drop zone.

Everton started brightly but were soon pulled apart by two Spurs goals in three minutes.

Tottenham broke the deadlock in the 14th minute when Michael Keane steered a cross into his own net.

Then Son Heung-min doubled the advantage when his shot snuck under visiting keeper Jordan Pickford.

Antonio Conte’s side ensured they’d victory through Harry Kane on 37 minutes after he beat the offside trap.

Things got even worse for Everton just 40 seconds into the second half when Sergio Reguilon netted a fourth - having only come on at the interval.

And Kane compounded the Blues’ misery when he notched his second of the game with a fine volley.

The heroes

- Harry Kane: the striker ran the show for Tottenham. Everton simply could not deal with his movement as he continually dropped deep. Took his goals with aplomb - his second was as good a finish you’ll see all season.

- Son Heung-min: the South Korea international ran Everton ragged. His goal was an error from Pickford but they all count.

- Ryan Sessegnon: his career has been rejuvenated by Conte. Showed great pace and desire for Spurs’ first goal which opened the floodgates.

The villains

- Michael Keane: a horrendous defensive display from the centre-back. Culpable for all three of Spurs’ goals in the opening 45 minutes before he was subbed off.

- Mason Holgate: an all-round abject performance from the centre-half. Did not get back to cover for Spurs’ first goal and dragged out of position for the second. Ball-watching throughout and a foul on Reguilon after backing off late in the game summed his night up.

- Frank Lampard: the high-pressing tactic the Everton boss deployed simply backfired. The Toffees played into Spurs’ hands and were pulled apart on the break. Lampard has a serious task on his hands to stave off relegation.
