Rafa Benitez opted to remain coy when asked about Everton target Vitaliy Mykolenko.

The Dynamo Kiev left-back is on the Toffees’ wish list heading into the January transfer window - and looks to be on the move.

Benitez watched his depleted Everton side grind out a heroic 1-1 draw at Chelsea on Thursday evening.

Much talk before the game was about Mykolenko - along with the future of Lucas Digne, who’s supposedly coveted by Chelsea.

But Benitez gave a short response when asked about Mykolenko following the Stamford Bridge encounter.

“At the moment I cannot say too much because I was focused on the game,” the Everton chief said as per the Liverpool Echo.

”Now it is [about] trying to enjoy it, we will have plenty of time to talk about the transfer window.”

Will Vitaliy Mykolenko join Everton?

It’s looking like that will be the case.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Ukraine international is currently undergoing his medical at Everton.

The mooted fee the Blues will pay is €23 million.

Mykolenko’s seemingly impending arrival adds further speculation to Digne’s future at the club.

He was omitted for games with Arsenal and Crystal Palace after a reported off-field dispute with Benitez before falling ill ahead of the Chelsea clash.

Romano has stated Digne could leave in January if a ‘good proposal arrives’.

Regardless if Digne stays or not, the Toffees need another left-sided full-back.

Niels Nkounkou has been sent out on loan to Standard Liege and there has been a lack of depth in the position this season.
