Liverpool’s squad is a strong blend of youth and experience and features quality across the board but there are some decisions that will need to be made this summer.
There are a few players set to leave this summer and then key players set to leave the year after unless new deals are agreed. Opposing clubs typically look to sign players with just a year left on their deals in the hope that they can turn a player’s head so there will be big decisions made this summer. Especially given that there is a new set-up at boardroom level, a new sporting director and a new manager set to arrive. Therefore, we’ve decided to look at which player’s contracts are set to expire across the next two years at Liverpool.
5. Virgil van Dijk - 2025
He once remarked that he didn't know about his future after Jurgen Klopp's exit but the captain has been a talisman for the club since arriving in 2018. A new deal should come but he is another key player with a question mark next to his name as it stands.
6. Ibrahima Konate - 2026
The French defender's deal expires in two years time which means he could be considering his future with a change of management this summer.
7. Andy Robertson - 2026
Robertson has been at the club since 2017 and considering he will be 32 when his deal expires, he may just wait until next year or the year after to consider his future.
8. Caoimhin Kelleher - 2026
Kelleher could be a very desirable option for clubs this summer because of his performances filling in for Alisson Becker this season. Now 25 and experienced, he could seek out first-team football elsewhere as he is ready for that next step. If not, he could wait another year and clubs will most likely take advantage of him having just one year left on his deal.
