Mount has been a key player for Thomas Tuchel's side this season. He’s registered an impressive seven goals and eight assists in 34 appearances.

However, the England international is in a race against time to feature against Liverpool in next weekend's showpiece event.

Mount suffered an ankle injury in the first half of Chelsea's 2-1 Club World Cup final victory over Palmeiras last Saturday.

The Telegraph reports that the 23-year-old will be absent for the Stamford Bridge outfit's trip to Crystal Palace tomorrow and their Champions League last-16 first-leg clash against Lille next week.

But it is claimed that Mount has not given up on being available to face Liverpool.

Jota latest

The Reds could also be without one of their talismanic players for the Carabao Cup final.

The Portuguese, who has scored 17 goals for Jurgen Klopp's side this season, has not been ruled out of the game but is doubtful at this stage.

Speaking after the Inter win, Klopp said: “The ankle was swollen at the break so we had to change.

“(It was) a twisted ankle and it was swollen. So that's not a good sign but we have to see. We need further assessment.”
