Chelsea's injury crisis has deepened ahead of Liverpool's trip to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Premier League title rivals will do battle in a bid to keep on the heels of leaders Manchester City.

The third-placed Reds are now nine points behind the reigning champions after their 1-0 defeat of Brentford last night.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are second but eight points in arrears of City having been held to a frustrating 1-1 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday.

To compounds the disappointing result, two key players were forced off injured for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Reece James was withdrawn in the 27th minute with a hamstring issue and is now a doubt to face Jurgen Klopp's side.

To make matters worse, Andreas Christensen was taken off at half-time after suffering a back problem.

It means that Chelsea could be without six regular starters against Liverpool.

Ben Chilwell is a long-term absence as he prepares for ACL surgery.

Meanwhile, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were all not involved in the Brighton encounter.

Thiago Silva has also been struggling with a hamstring complaint.

Who will Liverpool be without?

The Reds, as things stand, will have the majority of their men available.

Thiago Alcantara has now recovered from Covid-19 but missed Tuesday's 1-0 loss at Leicester with minor muscle soreness. He could travel to Stamford Bridge, though.

Meanwhile, Divock Origi continues to struggle with a knock.

Nat Phillips still can't play with a broken cheekbone and Harvey Elliott continues his comeback from dislocating his ankle in September.
