Jurgen Klopp says he will speak to Harvey Elliott about his Liverpool celebrations despite not thinking they were ‘worst thing to happen’ in football.

The FA have contacted the 18-year-old after he was pictured holding a red flare after the Reds’ Carabao Cup triumph over Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday.

Pyrotechnics are banned from all football matches in England.

Elliott, who netted a penalty in the 11-10 shootout win, now must explain the details and his observation of the incident to the FA.

Klopp insists the youngster will learn from his mistake and had sympathy.

The Liverpool manager said: “I didn’t speak to Harvey yet. Will I speak to him? Yes, maybe.
