Reports suggest that it’s doubtful Jurgen Klopp will bring in any new additions during the January transfer window and will wait until summer to bolster his squad.

Bowen labelled as 'top target'

As per The Athletic, the Reds’ board want to add a younger player to their team given their current front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are all ageing.

They claim the Liverpool hierarchy have identified Bowen as a ‘top target’ and are hoping he will have a similar impact to Diogo Jota, who joined the club from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £45m last summer.

Klopp comments

Speculation surrounding the 25-year-old could have also grown due to Klopp’s comments on the forward in November.

Speaking on the club’s website, he said: “I like Bowen a lot.

“He made his way up from Hull [City] and took not too long to show exactly what kind of player he can be in the Premier League.

“He made big steps.”

Agent development and West Ham stance

In addition, according to talkSPORT, Bowen shares the same agent as current Reds duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson, this could help speed up any potential move in the summer.

However, if David Moyes’ stance on Declan Rice is anything to go by, with the Scot valuing the England international at £100m, West Ham would likely want a substantial fee for Bowen’s signature.
