'Let's see' — Transfer expert 'expects movement' on £60 million Liverpool target this summer

Liverpool are weighing up their options on the transfer market as they prepare for the post-Jurgen Klopp era.

Long-standing Liverpool target João Palhinha remains a player of interest as we approach the summer transfer window. The Fulham midfielder has been attracting attention for months now, and it was reported earlier this year that the club will consider any offers ‘that make sense’ for the 28-year-old.

Palhinha was close to a summer exit last year but talks collapsed as the Cottagers did not have a suitable replacement lined up. They followed up by offering the Portugal international a new deal, likely in attempt to secure the best deal on any future transfer.

Fulham are reportedly looking for £60 million for Palhinha, and while the transfer buzz around him has died down compared to last summer and January, Fabrizio Romano believes it’s only a matter of time before the interest spikes once again.

“There was a lot written about João Palhinha last summer as he came close to leaving Fulham, with a move to Bayern collapsing late on. It’s gone quiet in recent weeks and months, and while nothing is happening now, I expect movement on this saga again soon,” the transfer expert told Caught Offside.

“I expect Palhinha to be one to watch, so let’s see who is going to be the next Bayern manager, as this could be important to understand if they will return for Palhinha or not.”

Liverpool have been interested in Palhinha for months now and are competing with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and other Premier League sides, as well as Bayern Munich for his signature.

The 28-year-old has been a key part of Fulham’s team this season and fits the bill for Liverpool, who have been reportedly looking for a new established defensive midfielder to join the ranks to both support and challenge Wataru Endō for the starting spot.
