With the Reds cruising at 3-0 up and a Carabao Cup Final against Chelsea to look forward to on Sunday, Klopp could have been tempted to substitute some of his attacking stars.

But the Liverpool boss knows this title race could come down to goal difference in the end and instead the German stuck with his main men and went for the jugular.

The six unanswered goals at Anfield means Liverpool now have a superior goal difference of +50 compared to City’s +46 with 12 games to go.

The rivals meet at Etihad Stadium on 9 April for a potential title decider when a Liverpool win could move them level on points.
