Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp provides Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain injury update ahead of Arsenal semi-final

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was withdrawn in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Brentford and is now a doubt for the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Arsenal.

Oxlade-Chamberlain netted the Reds’ second goal at Anfield with a fine diving header in the 69th minute.

However, the midfielder was withdrawn only five minutes later after receiving treatment. He was replaced by James Milner.

Klopp admitted Oxlade-Chamberlain rolled his ankle and is unsure of the severity of the issue.

He’s seemingly now doubtful for Thursday night’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at Arsenal.

Liverpool manager Klopp said: “It was something with the ankle, he rolled his ankle.

“Now we hope it’s nothing serious but we will get further or final information tomorrow.

“It’s absolutely too early (to say if it’s a serious injury). I have no idea, don’t know.

“He did absolutely nothing wrong, nobody did anything wrong. It just happened.

“It would have happened to anyone, really. Let’s wait, we don’t know anything about it so we have to wait.”
