Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to miss Chelsea match after COVID-19 test

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will miss Sunday’s Premier League match against fellow title-challengers Chelsea after returning a suspected positive COVID-19 test result.

The Reds have not asked for the game to be postponed and assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders will be in charge for the 16:00 kick-off at Stamford Bridge.

Klopp, who reported mild symptoms ahead of the fixture, is now isolating, the club have confirmed.

The Liverpool first team have been tested and no further positive cases - beyond the three unnamed players mentioned by Klopp in Friday’s pre-match press confrenece - have recorded a positive result.

However, three backroom staff members have returned suspected positive results.
