Cain, 21, made one appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s side in an FA Cup fourth-round replay win against Shrewsbury in February 2020.

He spent the 2021-22 season on loan at Newport Town and has now sealed an Anfield exit to join Swindon.

Cain told the Robins’ website: “It’s a great feeling to be here and I’m really looking forward to getting involved, playing good football and winning games.

“This is a really promising team with a lot of talented young players who are hungry and ambitious, and I really want to be a part of that.

“I’ve come here for regular first-team football and to prove myself at this level, showing just how good I can be.”
