Liverpool escape routes for Loris Karius and other fringe players after January transfer window closure

Loris Karius hasn’t played for Liverpool since the 2018 Champions League final and is now set to be removed from their Premier League squad to make way for Luis Diaz.

Loris Karius' Liverpool career looks set for another blow.

The goalkeeper hasn't played for the Reds since the 2018 Champions League final.

Karius' calamitous performance in the 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in Kiev effectively marked the end of his Anfield career.

That summer, he was replaced by Alisson Becker and now finds himself fifth-choice keeper at the Reds.

Now after the arrival of Luis Diaz from Porto in the January transfer window, Karius is highly likely to be axed from Liverpool's Premier League squad.

The Reds are only allowed 17 non-home-grown players in their 25-man set-up.

With Alisson, Caoimhin Kelleher and Adrian all options between the posts, Karius will make way.

The German, who is out of contract at the end of the season, will be desperate to reignite his career again.

And although the English window and many others are shut, there are still a few options in Europe and beyond where Karius could move to.
