Trent Alexander-Arnold
The right-back missed Saturday’s 3-0 defeat of Crystal Palace due to illness, although it is not Covid-19. James Milner was forced to deputise.
Lijnders said: “Even when he felt a bit ill, he wanted to play. We took the decision to take him out.
“We wanted to sort the situation with experience but we got so much more. James dominated the flank offensively. Big respect for James in that way.

Thiago Alcantara
The Spain international limped out of the Eagles victory with a calf injury.
“It was a shame because he was taking the game by the hand and had a real influence on our offensive play,” said Lijnders.
“He will not be ready for tomorrow or for the weekend [against Brentford]. We’re waiting for the scan result then can make a proper diagnosis.”

Lijnders said: “Bobby will start part of team training and is progressing really well but will not be involved tomorrow. Hopefully, we can make him ready for the games coming.”
Harvey Elliott
The 18-year-old underwent an operation last week after dislocating his ankle against Leeds earlier this month.
“Harvey is Harvey - a young boy. He deals with it outstandingly,” said Lijnders.

“We lost one of our better midfielders but he deals with it really well. We have a really strong medical department and try to support them as good as we can.”
Neco Williams
The Wales international would have played if fit but continues his recovery from a setback.
Lijnders added: “Neco Williams is progressing really well but is not ready for tomorrow.”
