Liverpool suffered a shock defeat at the City Ground on Saturday to continue their disappointing start to the season.
The Reds created very little in the East Midlands and were made to pay for their defensive errors by a Nottingham Forest side desperate to pick up from a poor start.
Taiwo Awoniyi scored the all-important winner, turning home a rebound off the post in the 55th minute, when Liverpool were undone by a free-kick.
Jurgen Klopp’s men played a high line for the set-piece, and when Fabinho lost his man on the far side, the Reds came undone with a simple low cross.
In truth, Liverpool didn’t deserve much more, failing to trouble their hosts for the most part, despite creating some good set-piece openings, and while Forest did very well defensively, they will have been surprised by quite how easy it was to keep the Reds at bay here.
It’s yet another blow for Klopp’s men in what has been a hugely disappointing start to the season, and here we have the player ratings from the clash.
Take a look below...

1. Alisson Becker - 6

2. Andy Robertson - 6
Pretty solid defensively but was left frustrated by limited opportunities going forward. Forest played the Scot well. | Liverpool FC via Getty Images

3. Virgil van Dijk - 6
Missed huge chance trying to be unselfish with a header in the first half, and he was unlucky to see a header saved by Dean Henderson late on. Found himself trying to make up for errors by his defensive partner too often. | Liverpool FC via Getty Images

4. Joe Gomez - 3
Sloppy passes from the off. Had to take a yellow card after being caught in possession and was lucky not to be punished by a Forest goal instantly. Though, from the resulting free-kick, his reactions were poor as the ball bounced off the post, and Forest did score. Positionally poor at a number of points. | AFP via Getty Images
