Liverpool have been linked with a move for Serge Gnabry this summer according to reports, but it looks as if a switch to Anfield won’t materialise.

The German forward is said to be in a contract stand-off with Bayern Munich as per The Daily Mail, putting him on the Reds and rivals Manchester United radar.

However, a move to Merseyside doesn’t seem to be on the cards if reports from journalist Neil Jones are to be believed.

Speaking on The Redman TV’s Journo Insight Show, Jones has shot down the idea that Gnabry could be on his way to Liverpool in the near future.

“[Gnabry is a] top talent, top player,” he said. “I don’t see him coming to Liverpool. The age he is at and the calibre of player that he is to Bayern, I think that is one of those that they are getting done.

“I saw a story yesterday saying that their focus is on renewals. I don’t expect Gnabry to be one that they’ll let go. I think they will find a way, but it is interesting that Liverpool are one of the ones thrown in the mix.

“I don’t know whether that is just a handy name, Liverpool and Manchester United are always a handy name to throw into anything like that. I haven’t heard anything about Liverpool looking to sign him… yet! I think Gnabry will stay at Bayern.”

A move for Gnabry would be an interesting one for the Reds, especially since they have just added Luis Diaz to their ranks in the January transfer window. The former is no stranger to the Premier League having played for Arsenal and West Brom in England’s top-flight.
