Fenway Sports Group will look to resolve Mo Salah's contract situation in the coming weeks, as per Football Insider.

Talks have remained at a standstill between the forward and Liverpool since the summer.

The Reds want to secure Salah's long-term future but he's said to be demanding wages of £500,000 per week.

The Egypt international is close to moving into the final 18 months of his deal and FSG want Salah's impasse sorted ahead of the January transfer window.

Rumour rated: Salah's form will certainly be proving a catalyst for FSG to tie Salah down.

Many people now believe that he is the best player in the world and would have his pick of clubs where he could move.

Luckily for Liverpool, Salah wants to stay - but will understandably want to be rewarded handsomely.

It's a quandary for FSG to mull over. They'll know Salah needs to be recognised but the Reds already have the second-largest wage bill in the Premier League.

One way or another, we might get a clearer insight into whether Salah will be staying in the coming weeks.

Reds eye Pogba freebie

Liverpool have joined the race for Paul Pogba, according to Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur.

Pogba's into the final year of his Manchester United contract and is available on a free transfer at the end of the season.

It's said he could be a replacement for James Milner or Thiago Alcantara.

Real Madrid also want the France international for nothing.

Rumour rated: this is one you just cannot see happening.

Jurgen Klopp wants his midfielders to first and foremost be dogged and put the team first.

That's something that Pogba has long been criticised for. What's more, it's a quality that Milner - whose deal also expires in the summer - always shows and will be difficult to replace.

Would Liverpool risk signing a player who's so inconsistent? It's highly unlikely.

For all of Pogba's ability, you get the impression Klopp wouldn't be able to fully trust the midfielder.

His red card just 15 minutes after coming off the bench in Liverpool's thrashing of United underlined that.

Phillips prefers Anfield

Kalvin Phillips would prefer a move to Liverpool over Manchester United as Leeds look to tie down their prized asset.

The Daily Stars claims that the Reds have made contact with the Whites about the midfielder.

Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani is prepared to hand Phillips a lucrative new contract but Phillips has concerns over whether Marco Bielsa's side can challenge for silverware in the coming years.

Rumour rated: this seems more like it. If you'd ask Kopites who they'd rather have between Pogba and Phillips, the majority would go with the latter.

Phillips is already an established England regular who, at the age of 25, is still to hit his peak years.

With Milner heading for an Anfield departure at the conclusion of his deal, Liverpool will likely want a new engine-room operator.

It comes down to whether there will be funds available as Phillips will command a sizeable fee.
