Liverpool are preparing for arguably the biggest game of their season this evening as they host Real Madrid in the Champions League. The Reds haven’t had much luck against Los Blancos in recent meetings, with their last victory coming in 2009.

9. Real Madrid 0-1 Liverpool (27 May 1981)
Real Madrid and Liverpool met for the very first time in the 1981 European Cup Final at the Parc des Princes in Paris. Alan Kennedy scored a late goal to secure the win for the Reds as they became the first English club to win three European Cups.
