VAR was called upon during Liverpool's 2-0 win over Everton on Saturday

After weeks of fallout and debate following VAR controversy in Liverpool's dramatic defeat at Tottenham Hotspur, the Reds were on the right side of a VAR call in the Merseyside derby.

Referee Craig Pawson was called to the pitchside monitor after a handball by Michael Keane from Luis Diaz's cross was not spotted by the on-field officials. A spot-kick was awarded which was dispatched by Mohamed Salah who then wrapped up the three points for Jurgen Klopp's side with a goal deep into stoppage time. Earlier in the game, VAR was unable to get involved when Ibrahima Konaté was fortunate to escape a second yellow card as VAR can only help rule on possible red card offences - as was seen when Curtis Jones was dismissed against Tottenham.
