Transfer guru confirms Liverpool interest in 17-year-old wonderkid wanted by Bayern Munich and AC Milan

There’s nothing quite like the buzz around a young wonderkid with huge potential to get fans talking, and now Liverpool are the latest in a long line to be linked with Schalke’s Assan Ouedraogo.

At 17, he has developed through the German club’s academy boasting strong goalscoring and creating records in the U17 and U19 sides before being promoted to the senior side this season.

So far, he’s featured 10 times and started in seven 2. Bundesliga games netting on his league debut in a 5-3 loss to Hamburger SV.

Playing in attacking midfield, he has put a lot of top clubs on red alert and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Liverpool are one of the clubs interested in the highly-rated midfielder.

Writing in his Daily Briefing, Romano said: “There have been reports about Liverpool being keen on Schalke youngster Assan Ouedraogo, and yes it’s true that Liverpool like him,” says the Italian transfer guru.

“But it’s the same for Bayern Munich and AC Milan. They are all informed on his situation, on his release clauses – he has different ones based on the clubs interested.”

“For sure he’s a top talent and that’s why those three clubs are interested I think he has great potential, he’ll need some time to develop but he looks a very good player.”

He typically plays across the attacking midfield role, deeper in midfield or out on the left-wing and he boasts an unusual physique of 1.91m tall for his age.

That’s certainly helped dominate in the youth teams and probably why he can cut it against fully grown men despite still being a teenager.

Ouedraogo is building a lot of hype at the current time and has already broken records in Germany; he beat Julian Draxler’s record as the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer on the same day he became the youngest player in their history.

It prompted the opposing manager Fritz Walter to say “With Assan you have a real gem. Hats off! Good boy. A really good player.” following the 5-3 defeat.

Plus, he also starred for the German U17 side, starting in four of their six games as his country clinched the European Championships.
