Liverpool can claim the first trophy of the season this Sunday when they take on Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final (16:30).
It’s been six years since Liverpool have been in the League Cup final and 10 since they won it, and now they take on Chelsea for a first final meeting since 2005.
Chelsea won the 2005 affair after extra-time goals from Didier Drogba and Mateja Kezman made it 3-2, but what are the Liverpool players who played in that final - from Jamie Carragher to Djimi Traore - up to now?
1. Jerzy Dudek
Made himself a hero three months after the final, saving Andriy Shevchenko’s penalty to win Liverpool the Champions League. Moved to Real Madrid two years later before retiring in 2011 to turn his eye to motor-racing, competing in an endurance race known as the 24H Series.
2. Steve Finnan
Made 217 appearances for Liverpool before a move to Espanyol in 2008. Got involved in property development with his brother but plunged into nearly €4million of debt, forcing him to auction off his Champions League winners medal.
3. Jamie Carragher
Second on Liverpool’s all time appearance list with 737 games in red, winning the FA Cup in 2006 and the League Cup in 2012. Retired in 2013 and now a top TV pundit with Sky Sports and regularly contributes to charity work with his charity 23 Foundation.
4. Sami Hyypia
Formed an ironclad partnership with Carra and racked up 464 Liverpool appearances before moving to Bayer Leverkusen in 2009. Moved into coaching after his 2011 retirement, with stints at FC Zurich, Brighton & Hove Albion and FC Haka.
