Harvey Blair makes his Liverpool debut in tonight’s Carabao Cup trip to Preston.

The youngster has been handed a maiden senior outing for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Harvey Blair is an 18-year-old who plays for Liverpool. He hails from Huddersfield.

Where does he play?

Blair is predominantly a pacy left winger, although he is also capable of playing as a centre-forward.

When did he join Liverpool?

Blair moved to the Reds in 2015 at under-12 level. He swapped Manchester United’s academy for Liverpool’s.

He signed his first professional deal in October 2020 and then extended his deal earlier this year as reward for his progress.

How has he fared this season?

Blair has made five outings for the under-18s, recording one goal and one assist.

He’s also made an appearance in the Uefa Youth League but hasn’t represented the under-23s.

Why is he playing?

Jurgen Klopp has unsurprisingly rested Mo Salah, Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino against Preston.

Meanwhile, Kaide Gordon - the 17-year-old who Liverpool paid up to £3 million for in February - is injured.

What’s been said?

Speaking to Sky Sports, Klopp said: “Harvey came only lately in the squad. He showed up in the youth team and has been good in training so we thought we’d give him the opportunity.”
