He was stretchered off in the Reds’ 5-0 thrashing of Manchester United last Sunday when he was on the receiving end of a rash Paul Pogba tackle. The Frenchman was sent off for the challenge.

Keita overcame bruising to the shin to feature and helped Liverpool race into the lead through a fourth-minute strike from Jordan Henderson.

However, Keita was subbed off on 19 minutes after breaking down, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain coming on in his place.

How long will he be injured for?

Keita was able to walk off the pitch unassisted but looked in some discomfort.

Jurgen Klopp has revealed that the Guinea international suffered a hamstring injury, rather than a recurrence of his setback he sustained against United.

The Liverpool boss is unsure how long Keita might be absent for.

Klopp said: “He showed me and told me it’s a hamstring issue but I cannot say more.”

A hamstring injury means Keita will highly likely be absent for Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid.
