Filming for hit BBC crime drama This City is Ours closes Liverpool pub as upcoming Wirral location unveiled
Filming for the second season of BBC's crime drama 'This City Is Ours' continues across various locations in Merseyside.
TV crews are descending on Merseyside this week, as filming for the highly-anticipated second series of the BBC’s critically-lauded crime drama takes place in Liverpool and Wirral.
Filming for BBC This City is Ours was spotted on Hope Street in Liverpool on Tuesday (January 6), with Liverpool World understanding that more of the upcoming series is being shot on Lark Lane in Liverpool today (January 7), between 7.30am and 4.30pm.
A spokesperson for Lark Lane Neighbourhood Association said: “Most of the filming will take place inside the The Old School House, however, some exterior scenes will be filmed on Lark Lane between 7.30am – 9.30am.

In an update on social media today, the popular Old School House pub said: “We’re closed today for something very exciting”.
Film crews are also expected in Heswall on Friday (January 9), according to a letter sent to residents by the production team, Left Bank Pictures.
The letter, seen by Liverpool World, states: “We are planning to film at 24-26 Pensby Road on Friday 9th January 2026 between 1500hrs - 2300hrs approx.
“We have been given permission from the local authority to close Pensby Road from Telegraph Road junction up to May Road between 1900hrs-0000hrs”.
Residents were informed that they may see security guards coning off the street ahead of the filming but reassured that access to businesses will be maintained at all times.
The letter continued: “Due to the nature of the scenes we are filming we will have the fire brigade and police on standby.
“They will be positioned within our road closure allowing quick access to our location. We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you in advance for any cooperation which will help us to achieve our filming goals.”
Filming for the second series of This City is Ours began in October 2025, with production company Left Bank Pictures confirming filming would once again take place in Liverpool and Spain.
Lead actor James Nelson-Joyce was spotted filming for the new season in Liverpool’s Chinatown on November 4. Photographs sent to Liverpool World show him entering a restaurant, as well as standing with film crews outside The Bagelry.
