Housebuilder backs new James Bulger Memorial Trust lodge
Liverpool charity, the James Bulger Memorial Trust, has received a donation from David Wilson Homes to help fund a new lodge for families to enjoy.
The James Bulger Memorial Trust exists to support children and young people who have faced profound hardship - including bereavement, crime, hate incidents or bullying - and to ensure they are given opportunities to heal and create positive memories.
The Trust received a £1,500 donation from David Wilson Homes, via the Barratt Redrow Foundation, the company’s charitable arm.
Stuart Fergus, charity manager of the James Bulger Memorial Trust, said: “The charity provides fully funded holidays and respite breaks for eligible children and their families, alongside additional forms of support and recognition. The donation from David Wilson Homes is being used towards our fundraising for a new lodge for our families to enjoy at no cost. The current lodge needs a lot more maintenance year on year so it will be great to get a newer, more modern lodge.”
The trust also recognises and rewards young people who demonstrate exceptional character, whether through acts of kindness, courage, or meaningful contributions to their community.
Nominations are welcomed from members of the public, teachers, guardians, police officers and welfare professionals who wish to put forward a young person they believe would benefit from the support of the James Bulger Memorial Trust.
Jennifer Burns, sales director at David Wilson Homes NW, said: “The James Bulger Memorial Trust provides vital support to young people and families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives. We’re so pleased that our donation will contribute to the development of the new lodge, which will offer a safe and restorative space for those who need it most.”
