Scouse fundraiser named JustGiving Awards finalist after running 84 marathons in 84 days
A fundraiser from Liverpool has been named a finalist in the Mind Over Miles category at the 2026 JustGiving Awards.
Rob Stones, 31, ran a marathon every day for 84 consecutive days, covering more than 2,200 miles and raising over £12,300 for charity.

Coined Beyond84, the challenge was inspired by the miscarriages experienced by two of Rob’s closest friends.

After researching miscarriage and pregnancy loss, Rob discovered comparisons between the physical demands placed on a woman’s body during the third trimester and the energy required to run a marathon every day. This inspired him to take on the 84-day challenge, representing the length of the third trimester.
Driven by his desire to help provide specialist support for mothers and families affected by baby loss, while shining a light on the emotional and physical demands of pregnancy, Rob raised the funds for the Honeysuckle Bereavement Service at Liverpool Women’s Hospital.
The Honeysuckle Bereavement Service provides specialist care and compassionate support to Liverpool families experiencing pregnancy loss, stillbirth and neonatal death.
Rob said: “When we first heard that Beyond84 had been nominated for a JustGiving Award, I genuinely could not believe it. Being nominated is an incredible honour, but it is not just recognition for me or for the miles I ran. It belongs to everyone who supported Beyond84 through the long, difficult days and the wet and painful miles.
“This nomination recognises an entire community of people who ran alongside me, donated, shared our story, organised events, provided practical support and kept me going when things became difficult. It’s a true celebration of what we achieved.”
Rob is one of 16 people to be named as a JustGiving Awards finalist this year. To be nominated, entrants had to have used JustGiving to raise money for a charity or personal cause over the last 12 months.
The finalists were shortlisted by an internal judging panel from JustGiving, with four finalists chosen for each of the four categories. Alongside the Mind Over Miles category, the other categories are Social for Good, Rising Star and Outstanding Commitment.
Pascale Harvie, President and General Manager of JustGiving, said: “The JustGiving Awards celebrate the remarkable people who turn compassion into action. Every finalist has shown what is possible when someone steps up for a cause they care deeply about whether that is through personal resilience, community spirit or an extraordinary challenge.
“Rob’s resilience is nothing short of extraordinary. Completing 84 marathons in 84 days would be an incredible achievement on its own but using that challenge to help raise vital funds for bereavement support for families affected by miscarriage makes his accomplishment even more meaningful. He is a hugely deserving finalist.”
The winners will be recognised with a unique JustGiving Awards experience, designed to celebrate their fundraising achievements and the impact they have made for the causes closest to their hearts.
The winners will be chosen by the public, with voting opening on Wednesday August 12 and closing on Sunday September 13.
