The summer holidays are coming to an end and children across Merseyside are preparing to return to education or begin their primary school journeys for the first time.
Wirral is home to more than 100 primary schools, including special schools and independents, but which ones are the best according to Ofsted?
Below, in alphabetical order, are all 16 of Wirral’s ‘outstanding’ primary schools, according to Ofsted inspectors. Please note, some of the institutions listed have not had an Ofsted inspection for a number of years.
.Published in July 2008, the Ofsted report for Higher Bebington Junior School states: “Higher Bebington Junior School provides its pupils with an outstanding education and very high quality care, guidance and support. Standards are very high and pupils achieve their potential because of the school’s exemplary support for their personal development and high quality teaching which promotes very good learning.” An interim assessment took place in 2011. 6. Irby Primary School
Published in November 2021, the Ofsted report for Irby Primary School reads: “There has been no change to this school’s overall judgement of outstanding as a result of this initial (section 8) inspection. However, the evidence gathered suggests that the inspection grade might not be as high if a full inspection were carried out now. The next inspection will therefore be a full (section 5) inspection. Pupils are proud of their school and enjoy attending. The positive relationships between staff and pupils make Irby Primary School a happy and calm place to learn. Pupils feel safe and are safe. 7. Kilgarth School
Published in April 2019, the Ofsted report for Kilgarth School reads: “ Following my visit to the school on 12 March 2019 with Ian Hardman, Her Majesty’s Inspector, I write on behalf of Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education, Children’s Services and Skills to report the inspection findings. The visit was the first short inspection carried out since Kilgarth School was judged to be outstanding in March 2015. This school continues to be outstanding. 8. Liscard Primary School
Published in July 2011, the Ofsted report for Liscard Primary School states: “This is an outstanding school. Pupils are very enthusiastic learners. Pupils, staff and members of the governing body have a tremendous sense of pride in their school. Leadership of the school is inspirational and innovative.
