Dogs Trust Merseyside are hoping to find forever homes for the adorable animals that have sadly been placed in their care - and numbers are up since the cost of living crisis hit.
Many owners are taking their pets to rescue centres, as they can no longer afford to care for them. Dogs Trust says every week, around 1,000 people are making the call to give up their dog.
From puppies to older dogs, the rehoming charity has all sorts of canine companions, hoping to bring a little extra joy to your life - including a Belgian Shepherd, a Pug and a Jack Russell.
Take a look at the lovely dogs below to see if you could give one a loving home. ‘Adopt don’t shop.
Xavier, a Pug, can live with other dogs although he gets a little frisky at times, but no other pets. He will need a home where any children are over the age of 16. Dogs Trust have no history for Xavier so cannot guarantee that he is house trained, but it is likely.
6. Blue
Blue - a Siberian Husky - needs to be rehomed with his sister, Mishka. They can live with children of high school age but no other pets or existing dogs. His family will need the room to feed him and Mishka separately.
7. Gio
Gio is a three year old Newfoundland who is very calm and walks beautifully on his lead with his long locks swaying, and he’s a little on the small side. He travels well in the car and is house trained.
8. Buster
Buster is a Retriever (Labrador) cross and is looking for a family to adopt or possibly even long term foster him as he has been at the centre since early March 2022. He needs a home without other pets and where any children are aged around 13. He is perfectly house trained and can be left for 4 to 6 hours once he’s settled in.
