While there is never a wrong time to indulge in a Sunday roast (I’ve been known to serve one up midweek - it is, after all, the best meal ever created) but their is something particularly special about tucking into the wonderful dish when the days are cold and the afternoons are dark.
Be it beef, lamb, pork, chicken or all four, a well prepared roast dinner with all the trimmings does something to the soul.

2. Albert's Schloss, Bold Street
⭐ If you want large portions in a lively atmosphere then Albert's Schloss, which has 4.6 stars on Google, is the place to go. 💬 You can get a traditional roast or with a German twist. I had Schweinshaxe (caraway roasted pork knuckle) and under the amazing coating of crackling the succulent meat fell off the bone. They also have a 'more gravy' button in the booth seating. 📍 Albert's Schloss, 18-26 Bold St, Liverpool L1 4DS 📱 0151 312 8998 | Dominic Raynor
3. The Railway, Tithebarn Street
⭐ The Railway serves up pub fare with locally sourced produce when possible and is a popular destination for a Sunday roast. It has 4.5 stars on Google and has been given a Travellers Choice 2023 award from Tripadvisor. 💬 One reviewer said: “Fabulous value. Sunday roast beef served piping hot and portions were so large it was difficult to finish it all. I had a small plate & even that was too large. Definitely a hidden gem we will be sure to visit again.” 📍18 Tithebarn St, Liverpool L2 2DT.📱 0151 236 9799 | Ian Kennington/GooglePhoto: Ian Kennington/Google
